Up for sale here is a lot of four BOOTLEG, UNOFFICIAL, UNLICENSED, COUNTERFEIT Super Mario and Yoshi series plush dolls. The Brown Yoshi and Bowser Jr. plush are both used, but are in good/fair condition. The Shine Sprite and King Bob-omb plush are actually both in completely new condition. The star of the show here is actually the Brown Yoshi plush. The original Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island game included many Yoshi colors, including brown. However, the brown Yoshi seems to be more-or-less retired nowadays. San-ei has produced official Yoshi plush of every other full-grown Yoshi color, including Green, Yellow, Red, Pink, Blue, Light Blue, Orange, Purple, Black, and White Yoshi–ten colors in total, but NOT Brown! This plush in particular might be closest to the orange Yoshi in color, but whereas Orange Yoshi has blue boots, the boots of this plush are orange–more unique and closer to the brown boots worn by Brown Yoshi in Yoshi’s Island and to the prototype Brown Yoshi’s boots in Yoshi’s Story, when more Yoshi and boot color combinations would be finalized for years to come. An interesting thing I’d like to note is that even COUNTERFEIT Yoshi plush very rarely come in brown. The other ten colors are common, and even so is magenta–which is usually reserved officially for baby Yoshis–but again, no brown. This particular Yoshi I’m selling is larger than the small San-ei plush, but the pattern is clearly based on them, and San-ei did make medium- and large-sized Yoshi plush, so I’d presume this unique doll was likely based on one of those. I procured it secondhand, so unfortunately I can’t tell you any more about its history, but suffice it to say that it’s definitely a very curious plush and could have a very interesting place among other dolls. The Bowser Jr. plush includes his magic paintbrush from Super Mario Sunshine, which has hard plastic inside to keep it straight. This doll was also used, and the quality of the material seems a little worn, like it may have been vigorously washed at one point. At the very least though, he is clean and does not smell. Maybe Mario got him with F.L.U.D.D.? The Shine Sprite and King Bob-Omb plush are both new. King Bob-Omb debuted in Super Mario 64, and this plush is based on his design from later games. He has hard plastic jewels on his crown and even a fake little tush tag with some details on it. (This is the only doll with any kind of tag in this lot.)
