Item Title: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Triforce Percent Please note this game requires a red cap expansion pak to run, without it the game will show black screen, please make sure you have one installed in your Nintendo 64 console in order to play this game Triforce Percent is a hybrid RTA/TAS superplay (“speedrun”) of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) which uses Arbitrary Code Execution (ACE) to install a set of data loaders in the console’s memory, enabling arbitrary assets (scenes, objects, music, etc.) in the game ROM to be seamlessly live-patched via the TAS replay device. By modifying the game programming and assets, beta content cut from the final version of OoT is restored and brought to life on screen. A new plot is constructed based on this beta content and on urban legends from the late ’90s, culminating in Link obtaining the Triforce, all within the vanilla game. Then, Link uses the power of the Goddesses–and we use the power to make the game whatever we can imagine–to go far beyond what would have been possible in 1998, and bring together the community in a meaningful way. A human speedrunner and a robot sit down in front of a completely unmodified copy of Ocarina of Time on N64. They press buttons on the controllers very quickly and very precisely, and activate complicated glitches in the game. These glitches let them hack into the game and start changing the plot, but this is still all done just by pressing buttons on the controllers. OoT Beta Showcase is the name we were using for Triforce Percent in order to avoid spoiling that we were going to get the Triforce. They are the same project. The idea was to tie some elements of real beta content together with a plot and create a plausible “alternate ending” to OoT involving the Triforce, all through ACE and controller input. Warping or resetting can overwrite the flag for the overture of sages. Losing the flag for Full Song of Time still lets you transfer between adult and child using the regular version of the song. A timestop effect occurs when using bottled items in the Unicorn Fountain. The Gerudo Mask is only useful when used with the gerudo lady outside the gate. The magic effect also doesn’t seem to do anything. Reported crashes when entering specific areas or getting close to certain spots like Lake Hylia from Hyrule Field or the Zora’s Domain warp in Lake Hylia. Some scene setups have been overwritten with the credits. Everything within is identical to what has been showcased before, including all bugs because the developers intended to gatekeep much of the project and thus did not worry about fixing any issues to make it playable for a casual audience.
